Compact by Design is an initiative we created to identify products that, although they may not always appear visually different, have a more efficient design. By removing excess air and water, these products require less packaging, making them more efficient to ship. At scale, these small differences in product size and weight lead to significant reductions in carbon emissions.

The focus of this program is on sustainability. Even small changes in product size and weight can result in lower carbon emissions. Here are just a few of the many ways products can qualify for the Compact by Design certification:

One way is by reducing the amount of packaging used. When excess air and water are removed from products, less material is needed for packaging, leading to a smaller overall product size and weight. This, in turn, allows more products to be transported in each shipment, reducing the number of trips required and the associated carbon emissions.
